He Ho'omaka Hou 'Ana - A New Beginning

The focus of family counseling is on the family as a whole, not just the individual family members who participate in counseling. The focus of our time together will be interactions among family members that may be causing difficulties. My goal is to utilize the family members' knowledge of the challenge in order to renegotiate new thoughts, behaviors and ways of interacting with one another that can provide a new story of strength and hope.

Some areas that I specialize in are:

  • Life transitions, such as a location move, death, job loss, and traumatic event.

  • The after effects of a sudden traumatic loss (death, suicide or homicide), change of life circumstance and/or life threatening illness.

  • Communication challenges in managing and resolving conflicts.

"Heartbreaks, disappointments and even our own weaknesses can serve as stepping-stones to the second half of life transformation. Failings are the foundation for growth. Those who have fallen, failed or 'gone down' are the only ones who understand 'up'. Richard Rohr
